Rachel Bays has been working in film and digital media for the past 15 years and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Houston. As a director and producer, she’s worked with corporations, non-profits, small businesses, and artists to create digital video. Recognized as Houston Press’s Top 10 Music Video Directors, as well as Houston Press Rocks’ Off 200, as one of the 200 most compelling, creative profiles in Houston.
She founded Illuminate Video in 2015 as a way to combine the fields of media production and technical storytelling, where she currently serves as CEO. Illuminate specializes in safety, training, and marketing video content for industrial companies while focusing on offering film and media careers to underserved, minority communities in the Houston area.
She currently serves as Vice-Chair of Johnson Space Center Small Business Council, on the marketing committee of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, as a member of Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership and on the Aerospace Advisory Committee, and frequently volunteers digital media production services to non-profit organizations promoting space exploration and STEM.
