Work with knowledgeable personnel about space suit technology including sizing, life support systems, ventilation, hydration needs/waste management as well as understand how a spacesuit can keep an individual alive during extreme conditions on earth such as high altitude or underwater depths where oxygen becomes scarce.
The laboratory provides testing capabilities for spacesuit life support components and subsystems, such as the water and ventilation loops. Simulate human loads on these systems by creating a wide range of sub-ambient conditions to ambient ones. Complete water and ventilation loops are available so that engineers may evaluate component dynamics in addition to interactions at a full system level.
